Vice President of Policy, Government Affairs & Strategic Engagement
Kristin Schleiter provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for policy development, advocacy, and stakeholder engagement for the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). She works with external stakeholders, policy makers, and health care organizations to manage emerging trends and issues that impact specialty certification. Ms. Schleiter also directs the organization’s legislative strategy and builds alliances to support advocacy efforts.
Prior to joining ABMS, she was a Senior Legislative Attorney with the American Medical Association where she developed, coordinated, and directed nationwide state legislative and regulatory advocacy campaigns on priority issues. Ms. Schleiter served as the State Government Affairs Analyst for the American Academy of Pediatrics, specializing in public policy development, legislative tracking and analysis, advocacy strategy, and consultation on issues including access to care, Medicaid/CHIP, health information technology, and health reform implementation.
Ms. Schleiter received her Juris Doctor degree and Master of Laws (LLM) in Health Law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington.
